Kyle & Shayna's Jewel-Toned Multifaith Wedding 10.14.12

"Our wedding was...a day of beautiful weather and beautiful moments, perfectly orchestrated by many key players to create an experience that was unique, stress-free, fun and momentous.  It was the coming together of our families, friends, religions and traditions in the midst of great food and quality service.  It was a Mashed Potato Martini Bar and Mac & Cheese balls during our Cocktail Hour that guests still rave about.  It was getting married poolside under a blue & white chuppah by an incredible Interfaith Minister.  It was a few quiet moments spent alone in the bridal suite before joining our family and friends at Cocktail Hour. It was cake centerpieces on each table, homemade by the groom's mother, in the most delectable flavors you can imagine.  It was walking into the ballroom and through a golf club tunnel created by our bridesmaids and groomsmen. It was singing, dancing, constantly smiling, and even finding time to visit the Faux-to Booth and the Chocolate Fountain! It was homemade Jam favors with personalized labels.  It was knowing that we started the day with different last names and ended it as husband and wife. It was a blast and we wouldn't have wanted it any other way."

We gave homemade jars of jam to our guests with labels that said "Peach Be With You, Jam Packed With Love, and We're Berry Glad You Came! Not Pictured: Oh Hot Damn, This is Our Jam (Given to our college friends)!

Destination: Honeymoon
Shayna & Kyle went to Sint Maarten/St. Martin for their honeymoon and spent a week seeing the sights, hiking, lounging, meeting new friends, drinking rum punch, karaoke-ing and taking advantage of the chance to spend time in 2 countries at once, as half of the island is Dutch and half is French.  They stayed at Divi Little Bay on the Dutch side and would advise that other couples headed to the island get a rental car for the trip, as cab rides can get pricy and renting a car while you're there can be twice the price of booking it in advance. Also, if you can, leave  your laptop at home and and use your phones as little as possible. Just enjoy being in a new place, and enjoy being together.

Any advice to give future brides & grooms?
Shayna tells friends who are currently planning weddings that whatever is right for them is right for their wedding. For seating, she and Kyle decided to do a Sweetheart Table and spread their wedding party around the room for dinner with the people they know best.  This worked nicely and didn't require couples to sit in different places from each other.  For entrances, they welcomed wedding party members to come in with significant others if they wanted to, and each duo got to choose an entrance song. Also, for pictures, this couple chose to do a First Look and wedding party/immediate family pictures beforehand so that wedding party members could go right into the Cocktail Hour and enjoy. The bride & groom took a few pictures, then a few moments together to breathe and smile, and joined the Cocktail Hour as well.  Relax and enjoy it, and remember, little things may not go according to plan, but they are just that- little things.  Most people won't even notice!

Favorite Wedding Moment?
When Shayna and her brother, David, were taking a few pictures together outside, a butterfly flew near them and Shayna put her bouquet out toward it.  Would you believe the butterfly came over, landed ON her bouquet, and stayed for a few pictures?
